Open Position: Professor of Information Security, Royal Holloway, University of London
Applications are invited for the post of Professor of Information Security from candidates with research interests in any area of Information Security. You will demonstrate academic leadership and the ability to direct research and to attract research income. Involvement in third stream income generation and playing an active role in the further development of the group's taught MSc degree programme, including supervision of projects, are other main duties of the post.
SANS SEC508: Computer Forensics, Investigation and Response: 6-8th March 2010
In conjunction with the MSc's Digital Forensics module, SANS will be providing a 3 day course, "SEC508: Computer Forensics, Investigation and Response" on 6/7/8 March 2010 at Royal Holloway. Alumni Reunion Conference 2010

CREST Conference Hosted by ISG
The ISG has been collaborating with CREST (The Council of Registered Ethical Security Testers) in the professionalisation of the burgeoning security testing industry, and as part of these activities a joint conference was held at Royal Holloway on the 15th of December.

Block Mode and CPD Route to MSc in Information Security
Applications to the MSc in Information Security remain open for the session 2009/10. The first module to be delivered in Block Mode this year begins on Monday 2 November with the core module Security Management.
Smart Card and RFID Security Systems
The Royal Holloway Information Security Group (ISG) and its Smart Card Centre (SCC) are pleased to announce that students on the MSc in Information Security may now choose optional modules to specialize in the field of smart card and RFID (radio frequency identification) security systems from September 2009. This timely introduction gives students the opportunity to obtain a vocational qualification in the field of information security with theoretical and practical expertise in the security of smart cards and RFID. Queen honours Prof Mike Walker
Professor Michael Walker, of the Information Security Group has been honoured with an OBE in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
New study finds flaw with internet security
A new study has revealed a security flaw within the network protocol SSH which could allow attackers to access sensitive data even though it is encrypted using state-of-the-art techniques. Professor Kenny Paterson, of the world renowned Information Security Group (ISG) at Royal Holloway, University of London, presented the findings at the leading annual security conference, the IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy in California, USA, on the 18 May 2009.
